Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Stefano is a great host the pastas are fresh delicious and filling. Everything is homemade which gets this place 5 stars. Will be coming back in the future."
"Very authentic Italian food. We had the bolognese pasta, and pasta with mushroom cream sauce, and tiramisu for dessert. All excellent. Small place. Small tables. Great stories from the cook / owner."
"Highly recommended. Delicious handmade Italian pasta. The chef, Stefano, is a super friendly Italian guy with a true passion for the Italian cuisine."
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hidden gem is an understatement. If you’re ANYWHERE near Chelem/Merida, this spot is worth making the trip for. Stefano is a one man kitchen. This man has a passion and love for cooking that is infectious. He sings as he cooks, serving every dish with warmth and joy. He was born and raised in Rome, spent 50+ years mastering Italian cuisine, moved to Mexico and now brings those family recipes here, adapted with fresh local produce and spices Everything is handmade. The pastas, the sauces, the flavors. Just love, skill, and tradition you taste it immediately But it’s not just the food. Stefano himself makes the experience unforgettable. He’s kind, funny, humble, and passionate, offering samples of new dishes he’s testing. Eating here feels less like dining out and more like being welcomed into his home It’s a small restaurant, easy to miss near the town square. Come with patience and respect; it’s run entirely by one man, in a small village where dogs live peacefully alongside the locals Honestly, this deserves a Michelin star. If you want a meal you’ll remember for the rest of your life — DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE"
"We had shrimp fettuccine. Everything was hand made from Italian flour. Stefano came from Rome 14 years ago. When I asked him about his bread, I noticed some focaccia there. He bakes his own bread as well. I had to buy 2 pieces right away because bread in stores in Chelem is disgusting. We had it right now for breakfast and we just love it. And his real italian espresso"
"Excellent home made pasta with authentic Italian sauces. Owner is from Rome. Very small. Caution. Bring your own wine as the restaurant does not at least as of now have a liquor license."
"Excellent food! We ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese and the Pasta Carbonara, and our friends had the Arrabiata and the Shrimp. All excellent! Stefano, from Rome, is a wonderful host and does all the cooking. It was warm inside the restaurant, so we moved the table out to the sidewalk - no problem! No liquor license yet, so we just had Coke and water. We had the Tiramasu and Chocolate Mousse for dessert - both excellent!"
"What a amazing, delightful and tasty homemade pasta meals last night. Our friends and us enjoyed Fettuccine alla Boscaiola, Fettuccine ai Gamberi, Lasagna alla Bolognese and Spaghetti alla Carbonara. A must place to try. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Stefano Cucina."
